What Does the Compressor Do?

The compressor is often described as the heart of a heat pump. This continuous cycle of compression, condensation, expansion, and evaporation is what allows the heat pump to capture thermal energy from the ambient air, even at relatively low temperatures. Without a working compressor, the heat pump cannot generate heat.
