BU1/2B 1/2″ Brass Solenoid Valve
As a retailer of hot tub spare parts and pool equipment, I supply solenoid valves for automated water control systems. This 1/2″ brass solenoid valve provides reliable electromagnetic actuation for controlling water flow in pool, spa, and heating applications.
Key Features
This brass solenoid valve features a 1/2″ connection size suitable for residential and light commercial water control applications. Brass construction offers excellent corrosion resistance, durability in pool environments, and compatibility with a wide range of water temperatures and chemical additives.
Solenoid valves use electromagnetic coils to open and close valve mechanisms, enabling automated water flow control through electrical signals from controllers, timers, or sensors.
Common Applications
Pool and Spa Systems – Automated water filling, chemical dosing control, heating system regulation, sanitizer injection timing, and water feature operation.
Water Management – Automatic top-up systems, overflow prevention, temperature-based flow control, and timed water circulation.
Heating Systems – Solar heating control, heat exchanger circuit management, and backup heating activation.
Operating Principle
When electrical current energizes the solenoid coil, it creates a magnetic field that moves the valve plunger, opening the water pathway. De-energizing the coil allows the valve to close, either through spring return or gravity depending on design. This provides reliable, repeatable on-off water control without manual intervention.
Installation Considerations
Install with flow direction matching any arrows marked on the valve body. Ensure adequate clearance for electrical connections and potential maintenance access. Mount in appropriate orientation (typically horizontal or vertical as specified). Connect to suitable power supply matching the solenoid voltage requirements.
Use appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape on connections. Install strainer or filter upstream to prevent debris from damaging valve seats. Consider installing isolation valves before and after the solenoid for maintenance access.
Maintenance Notes
Periodically inspect for leaks at connections and through the valve body. Clean or replace valve seats if flow becomes restricted or valve fails to close completely. Check electrical connections for corrosion. Calcium deposits from hard water can affect valve operation – descale as needed.
